約1年の歳月を経て、筆者の魂を込めたカスタムヘルメットが遂に完成した。その姿は、実に目を見張るばかりの深い紺碧のブルーメタリックの輝きを放っている。キャンディ塗装と呼ばれる特殊な技法で仕上げられたこのヘルメットは、まるで飴玉のような透明感と深みのある色合いが特徴だ。光の当たり具合によって表情が変化し、影になる部分では濃紺に、光が直接当たる部分では夜明けの空のような明るい青へと、まるで生き物のように色を変える。側面には3つの星が配置され、下地のシルバーメタリックの上にクリアブルーを重ねることで、夜空に輝く星のような深みと輝きを放っている。後頭部には筆者のロゴが刻まれ、全体として見事な調和を生み出している。このデザインは、バイク界で「忠ヘル」として広く知られる様式を踏襲したものだ。「忠ヘル」とは、全日本ロードレース選手権に参戦する名門チーム「SP忠男」に由来するヘルメットデザインで、その特徴的な目玉のようなデザインは多くのトップライダーに愛用され、バイク愛好家を魅了し続けている。この芸術品とも呼べるヘルメットを製作したのは、神奈川県藤沢市のペイントショップ「サニーサイドアップ」だ。当初、筆者の頭脳には朧げなイメージしか存在しなかったが、同店のマスターによる入念なヒアリングを経て、このデザインが具現化された。テーマは「派手だけどオトナ」。この一見矛盾するコンセプトは、キャンディ塗装の深みのある輝きと、星のモチーフの大胆さを組み合わせることで見事に表現されている。若々しい情熱を表す鮮やかなブルーと、大人の落ち着きを感じさせる深みのある色調が、筆者のライダーとしての理想像を体現しているのだ。筆者自身、長年この「忠ヘル」のデザインに憧れを抱いてきた。その夢が今、現実となり、この感慨は言葉では言い表せないほどだ。同時に、技量不足の筆者がこのような華麗なヘルメットを被るに値するのかという自問自答にも陥る。しかし、この星のモチーフが放つ鋭い眼光こそが、技術向上への切磋琢磨を促すのだと信じている。このヘルメットは、筆者のバイク人生における一つの転換点となるだろう。それは単なる装飾品ではなく、決意と情熱を形にしたものだ。ちなみに、本稿執筆時点において肝心要のバイクがまだ納車されていないという喜劇的状況に陥っている。まさに、「絵に描いた餅」ならぬ「ヘルメットに描いた星」だ。しかし、この逆説的な状況こそがバイク愛好家の情熱を如実に物語っているのではないだろうか。バイクが納車されるその日まで、このヘルメットは夢と情熱の結晶として大切に保管され、初めてこれを被ってエンジンをかける瞬間、新たな冒険への扉が開かれるのである。
After a year-long journey, the custom helmet that embodies my soul has finally reached completion. Its appearance radiates a deep, azure blue metallic shine that truly catches the eye. Finished with a special technique called candy painting, this helmet boasts a color depth and transparency reminiscent of a candy shell. The hue shifts with the play of light, transforming from deep navy in the shadows to a dawn-like bright blue where light directly hits, almost as if it were alive. Three stars adorn the sides, layered with clear blue over a silver metallic base, shimmering like stars in the night sky. My personal logo is etched on the back, creating a perfect harmony overall.This design follows the style widely known in the motorcycle world as “Tada-Hel.” This distinctive eye-like design has been favored by many top riders and continues to captivate motorcycle enthusiasts.This helmet, which could be called a work of art, was created by “Sunny Side Up,” a paint shop in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. Initially, I only had a vague image in mind, but through thorough interviews with the shop’s master, this design came to life. The theme is “Flashy yet Mature.” This seemingly contradictory concept is brilliantly expressed through the combination of the deep luster of the candy paint and the boldness of the star motifs. The vivid blue representing youthful passion and the deep, mature color tone embody my ideal image as a rider.I’ve long admired the “Tada-Hel” design. Now that this dream has become a reality, my emotions are beyond words. At the same time, I question whether a rider of my limited skill deserves such a magnificent helmet. However, I believe that the sharp gaze projected by these star motifs will drive me to hone my skills.This helmet will likely mark a turning point in my motorcycling life. It’s not just an accessory, but a physical manifestation of my determination and passion. Incidentally, at the time of writing, I find myself in the comical situation of not yet having received delivery of the crucial motorcycle itself. It’s truly a case of “counting your chickens before they hatch,” or rather, “painting stars before the bike arrives.” But doesn’t this paradoxical situation perfectly illustrate the passion of motorcycle enthusiasts? Until the day my bike is delivered, this helmet will be carefully preserved as a crystallization of dreams and passion. And when I finally start the engine wearing this helmet for the first time, a new door of adventure will surely open.
